KIK's Central manufacturing facility in Cortland, New York are FDA registered and specializes in producing personal care liquids for the consumer products industry. Cortland is located approximately 45 minutes outside of Syracuse, NY




The Process Engineer performs compounding process engineering duties in support of new business, process optimization, operational goals that include promoting and maintaining a safe work environment, ensuring product quality standards are met, reducing cost and improving production throughput. Work will include technology transfer, process/product scalability, process design, process optimization, process modeling, chemical system improvements, new product development, safety and environmental compliance, development and implementation of initiatives or other work related to process improvement. Helps organization transform workplace and work cultures to become safer, more compliant and efficient, and more environmentally sustainable.  


Essential Job Functions

  • Provide technical support and ownership during new business technology transfers for compounding.
  • Technical liaison between customer formulation chemist and KIK compounding.
  • Work closely with customer formulator/process engineer routinely to optimize existing formulations/manufacturing processes.
  • Own the translation of customer compounding processes to KIK processes and equipment (batch scaling and equipment scaling).
  • Provide technical compounding instructions (sequence of activities and order of material dilutions) to the Process Instruction author to support batch record generation.
  • Assist with the manufacturing of lab scale batches as required to support project onboarding and customer prescribed formulation changes.
  • Assist with compounding rework processes and protocols/reports.
  • Work closely with Validations/Project Management during compounding batch qualifications, verifications and validations to ensure successful execution.
  • Work closely with Engineering/Validations during the onboarding of new compounding equipment assets and the modification of existing equipment assets.
  • Envisions, analyzes, and manages initiatives and capital projects to improve the functionality, safety and efficiency of compounding processes.
  • Supervision of capital projects necessary for the continued improvement and modernization of the compounding spaces; ensuring timely completion of project scope within budgets
  • Develops project scope, funding proposals, and generates machinery specifications and test protocols for major purchases.
  • Coordinates project work with project stakeholders including but not limited to Compounding, Scheduling, Project Management, Customer Service and follows applicable Safety, GMP, FDA Codes and/or Guidelines, as they pertain to each project. 
  • Coordinates and supervises outside contractors and other personnel as required.
  • Manages all phases of assigned projects including spending control, fund tracking, close-out. Ensure that documentation requirements are met for all phases.
  • Provides input into the budget process and provides technical assistance and training to compounding staff, as needed.


  • Bachelor degree (or higher) required in area of discipline.  Ideally has a Chemical Engineering or Chemistry degree.
  • At least 3 years experience in batch processing environment
  • Must have a chemical background or understanding of chemical reactions
  • Customer Facing Experience is ideal
  • Experience in regulated manufacturing environment is ideal
