KIK Consumer Brands – Household Division

Our Household Division (“Household”) is the #1 player in North American private label bleach, and supplies private label cleaning programs to prominent American retailers. Although Household started as a small bleach plant in Concord, Ontario, we have since expanded to a network of 8 plants strategically located across the United States to efficiently manufacture a variety of cleaners for both hard and soft surfaces. . In addition to its private label portfolio, Household manufactures and markets Greased Lighting® and The Works® branded products

 

 

Essential Job Functions

Summary

 

The Senior Cost Accountant directs activities of product costing, product manufacturing

analysis, and inventory valuation. The position provides recommendations to site

Management in support of the achievement of Company goals. Position reports to the Plant Controller.

 

  • Perform month end close activities related to Cost Accounting.
  • Responsible for maintaining the Bill of Materials (BOMs) in JDE. Setting up new products, correcting costing errors and ensuring that BOMs are accurate and reflect true manufacturing costs thru consistent audit of KIK’s manufacturing
  • Prepare actual vs. plan (budget) analysis. Prepare various financial analysis related to manufacturing costs, inventory, and expense information as needed for decision making support
  • Analyzes changes in raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided, to determine effects on costs.
  • Analyzes actual production costs and prepares periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
  • Records cost information for use in controlling expenditures.
  • Prepares estimates of new and proposed product or service costs.
  • Recommends cost efficiencies in new product layouts.
  • Provides management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services.
  • Develop and maintain standard costs of finished goods and production components in the ERP system.
  • Maintain and improve processes and controls associated with manufacturing costs and inventory valuation.
  • Lead and manage the quarterly excess and obsolete inventory review process.
  • Ensure validity and accuracy of ERP through analysis, internal audit, and coordination with inventory control, production and work order processing.
  • Assist in developing and documenting policies and procedures, including system requirements and internal controls.
  • Represent Finance/Accounting on teams designed to improve operations, reduce costs, etc.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting (Master’s preferred)
  • 5-7 years of progressive financial accounting experience in a manufacturing environment with experience in cost accounting.
  • 3 + years of operational experience, especially with inventory
  • Experience working with operations, engineering and manufacturing team members on the development and analysis of cost standards.
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to work with members of finance, manufacturing and engineering to solve problems.
  • Strong grasp of GAAP accounting and general accounting concepts  
  • Detail orientated with strong communication skills and work ethic
  • Strong Excel and ERP skills. JD Edwards experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to streamline and automate complex processes
