KIK Consumer Brands – Household Division Our Household Division (“Household”) is the #1 player in North American private label bleach, and supplies private label cleaning programs to prominent American retailers. Although Household started as a small bleach plant in Concord, Ontario, we have since expanded to a network of 8 plants strategically located across the United States to efficiently manufacture a variety of cleaners for both hard and soft surfaces. . In addition to its private label portfolio, Household manufactures and markets Greased Lighting® and The Works® branded products.


The Transportation Planner leads a region for truckload scheduling of transportation needs between plants, and from plants to customers.  Interfaces with carriers, customers, brokers, customer service, and other internal KIK departments.



Essential Job Functions


  • Collaborate with carriers, personnel, and systems to provide timely and accurate information to internal and external customers.
  • Proactive interaction with internal and external teams including management, sales, customer service and carriers regarding costs, capacity, services, and capabilities.
  • Review orders within the transportation and purchase order systems and liaise with appropriate teams to ensure the most cost effective transportation can be scheduled.
  • Manage the routing of orders and tendering of freight to carriers with appropriate delivery instructions, consistent with customer requirements
  • Take ownership and act upon all requests for tracing and/or expediting of orders or transportation.
  • Answer questions and resolves supplier and customer issues with transportation providers.
  • Assist in development of a qualified carrier base.
  • Negotiate document and implement spot rates for transportation services.
  • File and manage claims for any freight loss, damage missed or late delivery fees through to resolution.
  • Interfaces with large retailer web sites to meet our customers’ requirements for transportation scheduling.
  • Assist with initiatives to generate cost savings, cost avoidance and/or service improvements to KIK’s transportation network.




Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in related area or minimum of 5 years of job experience in similar role.


  • 2 years of logistics experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Requires a thorough knowledge of the freight industry, including LTL, T/L, air freight, parcel, and expedited shipments.
  • General understanding of LTL/TL price structure and billing processes.
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software platform (SAP, JD Edwards, etc.)
  • Excellent Computer Skills including proficiency in MS Office.
  • DOT Hazardous Material Shipping experience preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership with the ability to lead people to get results through others.
  • Ability to plan, think ahead, and prepare action plans to achieve results.
