    KIK Consumer Brands – Automotive Division

    Our Automotive business is comprised of the Prestone® and Holts® businesses. We develop, manufacture and market antifreeze/coolant and other automotive functional fluids and car appearance products in North America and key international markets. Prestone® is the number one branded consumer choice for antifreeze/coolant in North America. Other brands in our Automotive Care business include Holts®, Redex® and Simoniz® (outside North America).

    Essential Job Functions

    Innovation Strategy

    • Sets Prestone brand innovation strategy, balance of sustaining and breakthrough innovation, new categories, and new market spaces
    • Assesses role of innovation across Prestone product segments
    • Evaluates new/adjacent categories and new market spaces for growth 

     

    Innovation and Product Lifecycle Management.

    • Creates a robust, continuous pipeline of new products, and core product news/claims, across Prestone products. Creates a “funnel” pipeline, and not a “tunnel” by stopping less viable products at the appropriate stage
    • Defines the series of steps, critical tasks and market information needed to take an “idea” from early concept to a fully executed product offering following a stage-gate process. This includes, but is not limited to:
    • Setting direction for product positioning, launch timing, packaging, pricing, distribution, formula specifications, launch needs, etc.
    • Work directly with agencies to perform pre-launch research and testing to validate ideas and identify post-launch research
    • Work with PMO team to create, lead and manage product launch timelines and manage team meetings to ensure critical milestones are being met
    • Manages total innovation financial targets and by project, meeting key metrics/ROI
    • Sets and tracks new product success metrics
    • Works directly with Sales & Marketing teams to influence the development and launch support materials
    • Works directly with Sales to co-create new products with retailers, develop plans to assist Account Managers in selling new products into new categories
    • Manages the overall product lifecycle of Prestone product lines:
    • Maintains a strong understanding of industry and competitors, and category drivers, and searches for new opportunities found in trends that drive marketplace behavior
    • Accountable for assessing Prestone product health, product fit to brand strategy, and recommends changes to product lines. Leads SKU rationalization process with cross-functional leads, setting targets and leading SKU identification and execution
    • Assesses structural packaging across the product lines and works with the brand team and operations to maximize branding/shelf presence while minimizing cost.       Ensures active productivity pipeline on key product lines

    Collaboration, Impact & Influence

    • Works with senior company leadership to align Prestone innovation strategies, new product pipeline, and plans
    • Establishes a strong rapport and influences R&D, Marketing and Sales teams, Operations, Customer Service, Business Development, and other key cross-functional teams  

    Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in marketing or related field. MBA strongly preferred.

    • Seven plus years of Brand Management or Product Development experience, including a minimum of 3 years that includes experience developing and launching new products, preferably in the automotive aftercare market, motor sports products, marine products or any chemical/lubrication company.
    • Demonstrated track record in identifying and launching successful new products. Demonstrated progressive career growth
    • 5-10 years of experience leading in a cross-functional, team environment, and in working collaboratively with research and development technical teams
    • Prior P&L accountability and/or demonstrated capability in understanding P&L metrics and drivers.   
    • Ability to be both strategic and “big picture”, yet also be detail and process-oriented. Comfortable with ambiguity
    • Strong entrepreneurial aptitude and solution-focused. A strong sense of urgency and ability to manage numerous projects at one time
    • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
    • Competent using MS Office, including Microsoft Project
    • Approximately 10% of travel required
