    KIK Consumer Brands – Pool Division:

    KIK’s Pool Additives Division (“Pool”) is a leading player in North America and key international markets with a broad brand and product portfolio spanning both the Mass and Specialty Retailer channels. We are well known for our Clorox® Pool&Spa products in the North American Mass channel, our BioGuard® brand in the North American, Australian and South Africa Specialty channel, and our Bayrol brand across Europe. Our multi-functional product formulations and innovative water testing innovations allow pool owners to safely and easily enjoy their backyard retreat.


    The HESS Specialist (Health, Environmental, Safety and Security) will contribute by working with the Operations to proactively and positively effect change in HESS areas of responsibility. The HESS Specialist is a hands on position, interfacing with all levels of personnel across three facilities, taking ownership for all HESS activities, initiatives, and programs at those locations. The HESS Specialist follows all regulations and coordinates compliance with all applicable Federal, State and local regulations offices, including: Occupational Safety & Health Administration; Environmental Protection Agency; Department of Transportation and Department of Homeland Security. The HESS Specialist is additionally responsible for cost control of Workers’ Compensation through training as well as strategic and proactive case management. The HESS Specialist also leads the site’s sustainability and waste reduction efforts. 

    Essential Job Functions


    • Assist with the administration of a comprehensive health, environmental and safety education program. Ensure training is completed and documented for all employees on all regulatory topics.
    • Conduct periodic compliance audits throughout the facilities.
    • Coordinate corrections of unsafe conditions or acts. Consult with department managers for recommendations on compliance.
    • Develop corrective action plans for significant outages and track to closure.
    • Administer plant Workers’ Compensation. Ensure all injuries are documented, investigated for legitimacy and filed with carrier and state.
    • Coordinate transitional duties of employees from initial care to return to full duty. Coordinate drug screens as required.
    • Manage air and storm water permits and associated reporting.
    • Manage and maintain all OSHA or EPA mandated compliance records.
    • Direct correcting high-risk employees from repeated injury, development of policies for high-risk job classification and continual improvement of plant safety performance.
    • Oversee the hazardous waste program including the coordination of waste shipments, manifesting, inspections, and training.
    • Coordinate emergency response during disaster situations such as fire, chemical release, or natural disasters. Coordinate with outside agencies as required.
    • Employee training

    • Participate in the emergency response team
    • Excellent organizational, analytical, investigation, problem solving and communication skills
    • Emergency Response experience- Ability to make critical decisions and lead people during emergency situations
    • Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing or 5S experience
    • Demonstrated experience in a fast paced environment
    • Bilingual in Spanish required

    Working Conditions : The production facility is within an indoor, industrial environment and is not climate controlled. Specialist will regularly enter areas that require the use of stairs or ladders, respirator protection, and enter closely confined spaces. The facility runs 24/7, the Specialist must be available to off-shifts for incident response and occasional HESS representative duties (training, observations, etc)


    • 2 years of experience of environmental, health and safety prevention program experience within a manufacturing environment
    • Associate’s Degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering or other related field; Bachelor’s Degree preferred; In-field experience will substitute for degree
    • Previous experience with environmental management within a manufacturing facility.
    • Knowledge of CALOSHA and EPA regulations
    • Computer proficiency in MS Word and Excel
