  • Overview

    Guides Quality Control Laboratories and ensures that QC Chemists, Lab Technicians, and Lab Administrators are in compliance with all policies and SOPs.  Serves as a lead point of contact between all other KIK departments and the QC laboratory on their shift. Ensures that there is adequate laboratory support for all production needs.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Works with the Quality Control Chemists, Lab Technicians, and Lab Administrators to ensure that the lab complies with all KIK policies, SOPs, cGMPs, and cGLPs.


    • Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of laboratory training for the QC Chemists and QC Lab Technicians on their shift. Provides guidance for other shifts as requested.


    • Provides Technical support to compounding, production, and customers during test runs, new product start ups, and daily production.


    • Conducts internal investigations and Out of Spec laboratory investigations.  


    • Ensures all laboratory equipment has been maintained properly and may schedule any outside services necessary.


    • Communicate with production and scheduling departments to ensure that all necessary chemicals are released for batching.


    • Oversees analytical testing of raw materials, in process bulks and finished products, according to established KIK and customer procedures and specifications.


    • Oversees analytical release of raw materials and in process bulks for compounding according to established KIK and customer procedures and specifications.


    • Assists in customer audits, trial runs and ensures laboratory compliance.


    • Supports lab as needed with the following processes:


    • Conducts routine analyses of raw materials, batches, and finished products following specified analytical methods.
    • Develops analytical procedures employing various laboratory methodologies and instrumentation.
    • Maintains accuracy and reliability of all laboratory instruments. Conduct instrument calibrations as required.
    • Troubleshoots instrumentation and methodologies when mechanical or procedural difficulties occur.
    • Validates newly developed methods to meet CGLP requirements.
    • Performs assigned procedures for processing laboratory reports, documentation, customer paperwork, and any other clerical laboratory functions as required.
    • Investigates customer complaints and internal technical services problems, reports findings, and recommends solution(s).
    • Able to perform analysis using HPLC, GC, FTIR, UV-Vis, AA, wet chemistry, and numerous other analytical methodologies/ techniques.
    • Maintains a working knowledge of all KIK and customer procedures, requirements, and CGMP’s/CGLP’s.

    Four-year degree or significant experience required in area of discipline.
