    POSITION PURPOSE:

    Organizes and assigns all compounding personnel to activities as indicated by the short-term production schedule. Ensures quality, and the efficiency of batching process. Responsible for facility GMP adherence and good record keeping on Compounding floor and maintenance of compounding department equipment. This is a day shift position.

     

     

    Essential Job Functions

    • Controls raw materials by using quantities required to produce finished products and intermediates; receiving, sampling and verifying raw material supplies; recording raw material usage
    • Prepares mixer by cleaning and preparing the vessel for use in accordance with established procedures.  Setting equipment controls; weighing and loading raw materials to the mixer.
    • Produces product by mixing raw material, monitoring and adjusting the mixing process.  Completes associated documentation and electronic checks in the proper sequence
    • Prepares product for next process by unloading the mixer into totes, drums or vessels and labeling the finished batch
    • Maintains quality standards by verifying weight and content of raw materials, conducting in-process batch inspections, documenting all process events and approving product for next step in the manufacturing process.  Submit completed documentation in a timely manner
    • Prepares for next batch by cleaning mixing equipment with Clean-In-Place system, Steam-In-Place system, washing with water, sanitizing with specified sanitizers and/or with specific methods
    • Maintains operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes, inconsistencies and needs for maintenance support.  Monitor utilities and sub systems; takes readings from meters and recorders.  Changes filters, clean strainers and perform cleaning process when required; perform process related maintenance.
    • Maintains the requirements for a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
    • Develops and maintains continuity and contributes to team effort among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities and continuing needs.  Supports objectives set for the team and coworkers
    • Determines changes in operational parameters  by observing equipment function and response relative to batch control and operator interface to production and support systems
    • Adjusts functional settings and controls by using computers, PLC’s, process monitoring and control devices to make adjustments within procedural limits to process systems
    • Operates liquid waste system by running waste water operations to prepare wastes for discharge in compliance with regulations.  Monitor system levels, plan for the eventual  handling of expected outfalls from the process.  Monitor sampling devices and flow monitors, submit samples, document operation where required by procedure.
    • Writes procedures, SOP’s, participates in audits and supports the Validation department
    • Develops the content of training sessions and conducts training with operators to include safety, quality and process systems
    • Performs trend analysis  of historical data; ensures procedures are being followed, addresses production problems and maintenance issues, submits reports and offers ideas to improve the facility
    • Manages direct reports to include recruitment, selection and development to achieve Company goals and objectives.

    • Perform other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • Minimum two-year degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • 5 years’ experience in batch process manufacturing or liquid blending with at least 3 years in a supervisory capacity leading hourly employee teams. Industry experience ideally in food, beverage, personal care  or OTC/pharmaceutical environment. Blending experience in chemical or paint / coatings industries also considered
    • Ideal experience is in blending / mixing / processing of liquid batches in tanks ranging in size from 100 gallon to 6000 gallons in size
    • Must be assertive and process / procedures oriented
    • Experience in Lean Manufacturing environment and/or familiarity with Lean tools is a plus
    • Self-motivated with proven people leadership skills
    • Thorough understanding of cGMP’s
    • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs bags of material products
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule (including weekends when needed)
    • Computer skills must include experience in MS Office Suite
